OK so it has admittedly been a little while since I managed to get organised to go down to the beach and get in some shots. Partially because it is hard to find free weekends while we are in the middle of motorsports production season and partially because I have been a little spoilt lately with helpers coming to assist with carrying around the Ranger RX gear I use for lighting. This latter reason means I tend to organise shoots dependent on assistant availability.
That is no excuse really, well not a good one anyway. I used to lug down more gear on my own with just the help of the model, but having a friend come down once or twice to help carry and move setups along the beach really feels luxurious and makes the shooting part ten times easier (rough estimate obviously, too hard to quantify otherwise!)
Perhaps its time to get back to the old days of shooting and juggle the equipment carry, setup & adjustment on my own? Unlikely to happen of course but I can at the very least stop making excuses and just make an effort to get down to the beach a little more.
Here's some samples from my most recent trip down to Lee Point beach with Alexx Mudd! Thanks to
+Jeremy Horvath for coming down to wrangle my gear for me on the day.
